Shark Bait
Haven't really thought of any more names for Valks' yet, but I'm hatching a plan to construct a few scrath built Marauder styl-y bombers for (hopefully) an apocalypse style game at some point - I think I shall name one Enola Gay and hope for similar results to those that the original produced...

Who said learning wasn't fun?
We are seeking healthy male volunteers to take part in a psychology experiment which investigates the effects of alcohol on aggressive gaming and cognitive processing.
Volunteers are required to attend a laboratory in the School of Psychology, on the University of Liverpool campus. The study lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. During the experiment participants will be provided with alcoholic beverages and play on an x-box with another participant, and will also complete questionnaires, a computer task and a verbal fluency task. All participants responses will be anonymous and participants may also be eligible to win music vouchers (to a value of 30) based on performance on a computerised simulation task.
In order to take part, you should be a healthy male aged between 18 and 25, and a fluent English speaker.
For more details about the study, including detailed information about the inclusion and exclusion criteria, please contact Leanne Nowlan at leanne.nowlan@liverpool.ac.uk.
The University of Liverpool does not condone the excessive use of alcohol.

Attempt number two!
Fancy seeing you here. Or not as the case may be...
Anyway, been experimenting with my army list and considering that even though a 1000pts is quite a few points, its still not really enough to enjoy the luxury of masses of expensive wargear so I stripped down all the squads to the bare minimum to see how much plain fire power I could fit in.

Nothing fancy, I've excluded the astropath and officer of the fleet for the simple reason that they'd be more suited to a larger game with more reliance on reserves than a smaller game with mostly set peice formations. The units that are going to deep strike from their side aren't going to be much more than a vastly outnumbered/outgunned attempt at a flanking manouver and by the 5th turn they arrive automatically whether the officer of the fleet is there or not. A bit of a waste of 30pts in this situation.
Vice versa, since the only units that are deepstriking now are my valkyries theres not really much point in using the astropath, since they'll arrive together (they're in the same squadron) and it doesn't really matter what turn they arrive on.
Stormtroopers aren't making an appearance, their weapons are for killing heavy infantry not swarms and that makes them a bit of an extravagance, which is a shame coz I like them :(!
No hydra, just a second valkyrie, and two more heavy weapons teams making that now 48 heavy bolter rounds per turn if both valkyries stay in close proximity to the heavy squads.
And finally, its bang on 1000pts so I don't need a borrowed point, woo!
Suggestions welcome.
Peace in the middle east brothers.

Anyway, my justifications:
- The command squad isn’t compulsory, but useful because of the orders and also the characters you get with (Master of Ordnance, Astropath, Officer of the Fleet, Body Guards...) probably worth the points cost.
- The storm troopers are still on my favourites until they perform a spectacular screw up and considering the reduced gun range, its possible that they may soon screw up but what the hell, i'm taking them for "shock and awe" reasons.
- Lots of heavy bolters, I'm aiming for the troops and some of the heavier infantry as my main target; two heavy weapon support squads.
- The nominal troop, 40 of them, should provide enough of a firing line/meat shield and with the orders pouring out of the 3 command teams I've got then they should prove to be a pretty mean bunch before they all get eaten/lacerated to death.
- The Valkyrie is for moving the heavy weapons teams into an awquard position for any 'nid troops and from which point I can place the valkyrie behind the teams and use the sponson mounted heavy bolters, multi laser and multiple rocket pods, which means in a small concentrated there are 8 heavy bolters (24 shots per turn, I don't have enough dice), 3 multi laser shots and 2 large blast template anti-light-infantry rocket launchers. Blammo.
- Finally, the Hydra as opposed to a weapons team with autocannons has half a chance of hitting with 8 shots (at 75 pts) compared to half a chance of hitting with 6 shots (at 75pts) and also has a much longer range (72" compared to 48") and a trick that means any fast vehicles moving at flat-out don't get their normal cover saves.
So considering you guys are going to be carrying between you at least 5 lascannon and 3 railgun shots per turn, I think I can safely make my army more of an anti-infantry formation and not miss the heavy stuff.
Comments always welcome.

Duhduhduhdurrduh, duhdurdurdurrduh, duhduhduhderrduh, duhduhduhderrrrrrrr
So, its constructed and looks rather stunning, still got to finish off the detailing, work out a way to swap the weapons over and write call signs on the side but its all for another time. Heres some picture in the meantime, i hope you like :)
